Dear Jack,
I'm not going to have access to a computer to write you on your birthday, so I'm writing a few days early.
You would have been 14 this coming February 16, truly a young man. I can only imagine the change that would have taken place in the last 18 months had you survived. You were 5'7" and 140 pounds when I last kissed you good-bye, but I guess you would have been close to 5'10" and over 160 by now. I know that you would still be the considerate and kind person that you always were. You would be months away from completing Middle School and starting High School. I know you would have continued to be an honor roll student and play football, basketball and lacrosse. Most importantly, you would still be a wonderful son, brother and friend. I continue to mourn your passing and pray to be reunited with you in heaven. I miss you so terribly that I sometime wonder how I can go on living without you, but I do, because I know you would insist on it.
I love you so much. You made my live so much better just by knowing you. I feel like the only good thing I ever did in my life was to be your father. Please look in on me every now and again if you can.
Love,
Daddy
